Our diagnostic technology and equipment come directly from each manufacturer – Ford, GMC and Dodge. By investing in manufacturer-produced diagnostic equipment and the associated software subscriptions, we have all the same tools at our disposal as the dealers.
We’re also a Bosch certified diesel repair shop. Bosch is a leading manufacturer of fuel injector parts, and our diagnostic equipment allows us to test common-rail injectors in-house. Instead of waiting days or weeks to have your injectors sent to a specialist for testing, we’ll verify whether each of your injectors is good, marginal or bad right at the shop. Gem State Diesel is the only repair shop in Idaho that’s invested in the state-of-the art EPS205. This is a Bosch factory certified injector tester which enables us to check and certify Bosch injectors.
It’s a big inconvenience when your truck is in the shop, and for many of our customers having a vehicle off-line costs them money. Investing in specialized diagnostic equipment lets us identify the issue faster so we can get it repaired quickly and get you back on the road.
Fuel System Repair
We verify all our repairs. Prior to replacing a part we use diagnostic equipment to verify whether the component is good or bad. If it’s bad, it gets replaced with top quality parts. Not only can you be sure you’re not overspending by replacing good parts, you can also be confident that you’re not driving off with a bad component that was overlooked, only to have to bring your truck back later.
All of our repairs come with our 2 year / 24,000 mile warranty – double the warranty you’ll receive from most dealers. We can stand behind this warranty because we are confident in the parts we’re putting in your truck.
Preventative Maintenance
Preventative maintenance is important in many aspects of a diesel, but taking preventative measures for your fuel system can be easily overlooked. It’s one of the most important things we recommend to our clients since a fuel system failure can be extremely expensive to fix.
We recommend using fuel additives each time you fuel up. We get it. It’s not the most exciting thing to do with your truck. It’s not going to make you go up the hill faster, but it can have a big impact when it comes to the longevity of your fuel system. It will save you money later by reducing the likelihood a part will fail.
Fuel additives increase the cetane rating , lubricate the parts in the injection pump, reduce nozzle wear, and atomize the fuel better. This is especially important in Idaho where we have cold winters and condensation. Run fuel additives year-round each time you stop to get fuel.
