Suspension Repair

The suspension system is an important component in a truck. Not only does it give you a better ride, it has a significant impact on how well your truck tows and how effectively you can stop when you’re towing.

We can service and repair all elements of the suspension system. Whether it’s brakes, shocks, or even suspension alignment, we can help.

We also look at suspension geometry. How is your suspension on the truck relative to the trailer you’re pulling? We can make recommendations on adjustments for a smoother ride. We also offer airbag installations with air compressors that automatically pump up the airbags to adjust the rear suspension so it tows at the right height.

Brake Repair

If you drive a diesel, you can probably think back to a few times when you’re near weight capacity with a heavy load and someone cut you off. If you spend time in the back-country, it’s almost guaranteed you’ve had to slam on the brakes to miss a deer that came out of nowhere.

Diesel trucks are heavy, which is part of why they’re so effective at towing. But when you’re loaded down there’s a lot of velocity, making it harder for your brakes to stop at a moment’s notice.

Cheap brake rotors look like the more expensive ones, but that’s where the similarities end. Cheaper brake rotors actually weigh less than their quality counterparts. They don’t have as many ribs, wear down faster, warp quicker and don’t function as well. With brake rotors, you’re really getting what you pay for.

When you bring your truck to Gem State Diesel, part of what you’re buying is our expertise in sorting through all the parts on the market to make sure your truck is getting the quality it deserves. We don’t use the cheapest parts. But that means when you need them, as you slam on the brakes to avoid the car that whipped out in front of you on Eagle road – our repairs shine.

Shock Repair or Replacement

Shocks help give you a smoother ride, tow better, and decrease the amount of braking time. They control how your vehicle transfers weight. Worn out shocks can show up in a few ways. First, your trailer may no longer be towing well. You still have power but are white-nuckled more than you used to be. You may feel like your braking isn’t as effective. This is because when shocks are worn out, they load up the front suspension when you brake, making it take longer to stop. We can help.

Quality Components

Quality components are critical, especially when it comes to the suspension. Track bars, ball joints, and steering components are all critical. There’s a lot of trust in a mechanic’s choice of replacement parts. If you bring your truck into Gem State Diesel, you can rest assured that we are putting high quality parts back into your truck – like the American made Moog ball joints which offer an improved design for longevity and serviceability.  We identify better than factory components to make the repairs last, and we’re willing to stand behind it with our 2 year / 24,000 mile warranty.
